The rapid test for hypothyroidism detection is a qualitative membrane immunoassay for the detection of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in whole blood. In this test procedure, anti-TSH antibody is immobilized in the test line region and on coated particles.
After the sample is added to the sample well of the cassette, it reacts with the anti-TSH antibody-coated particles in the test. This mixture migrates chromatographically along the length of the test and interacts with the immobilized anti-TSH antibody.
Positive samples react with the specific anti-TSH antibody-coated particles, forming a colored line in the test line region of the membrane.
The absence of this colored line suggests a negative result. To serve as a procedural control, a colored line will always appear in the region of the control line, indicating that the appropriate sample volume was added and that the membrane was absorbed.
