Gaviscon Duefet is a combination of two antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate that acts in two ways. 1. It neutralizes excess gastric acid, relieving pain and discomfort. 2. It forms a protective layer over the stomach contents, calming the sensation of pain/burning in the chest that can last up to 4 hours. This medication is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux related to acidity, such as acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion, which may occur, for example, after meals or during pregnancy.
