Bisacodyl, the active substance in DULCOLAX, is a contact laxative from the diphenylmethane group, which, after metabolism by hydrolysis, stimulates the mucosa of the large intestine causing colonic peristalsis. This results in stimulation of defecation, reduction of transit time and softening of the stool.
Indications:
For use in cases of constipation.
For the preparation of auxiliary diagnostic means, in pre- and post-operative treatment and whenever facilitation of evacuation is required.
