Gino-Canesten Vaginal Cream contains the active substance clotrimazole, belonging to a group of substances known as "antifungals".
Clotrimazole has a broad spectrum of activity, allowing it to effectively eliminate a large number of fungi responsible for various skin (dermatophytoses) and genital infections, namely vaginal candidiasis affecting the vaginal area (vaginitis).
Vaginal candidiasis is an infection caused by a fungus called Candida that occurs quite frequently in women. This fungus (Candida) is found on human skin, feces, and in the vagina, and in certain situations can become pathogenic. The symptoms of vaginal candidiasis are itching, redness, whitish discharge, and unpleasant odor. Gino-Canesten Vaginal Cream is used to treat genital infections located in the vagina, vulva, or penis caused by a fungus called Candida: Recurrent vaginal candidiasis with a previous medical diagnosis. This condition is characterized by whitish vaginal discharge, accompanied by vaginal itching, and is usually more pronounced before menstruation. Local treatment of infections of the labia (vulva) and adjacent areas, as well as inflammation of the glans and foreskin of the penis in the sexual partner (balanal candidiasis).
